Shape Aware Deformation Using a Skeleton-Guided Scheme

ثبت نشده
چکیده

This work presents a method for deforming meshes in a shape-sensible way using Moving Least Squares (MLS) optimization. This work explains how an approach for deforming space [10] can be transformed into a skeleton-guided deformation scheme, where more sensitivity to the mesh geometry is achieved. Given a mesh and its skeleton, for each joint a minimization problem is solved subject to positional constraints given by the user. The mesh geometry is then modified by blending optimal transformations computed at skeleton joints associated with each vertex of the mesh. Additionally, it is shown how a small reformulation of the MLS scheme makes it possible to affect the bending behavior of the deformation.

Shape-aware as rigid as possible deformation

We propose a formulation capable of deforming meshes in a shape-sensible way. We explain how to adapt the original space-deforming algorithm [2] into a skeleton-driven deformation scheme, where more sensitivity to the mesh geometry is achieved. The more natural results make it possible to use the technique for character animation.

Skeleton-based Variational Mesh Deformations

In this paper, a new free-form shape deformation approach is proposed. We combine a skeleton-based mesh deformation technique with discrete differential coordinates in order to create natural-looking global shape deformations. Given a triangle mesh, we first extract a skeletal mesh, a two-sided Voronoi-based approximation of the medial axis. Next the skeletal mesh is modified by free-form defor...

ProcDef: Local-to-global Deformation for Skeleton-free Character Animation

Animations of characters with flexible bodies such as jellyfish, snails, and, hearts are difficult to design using traditional skeleton-based approaches. A standard approach is keyframing, but adjusting the shape of the flexible body for each key frame is tedious. In addition, the character cannot dynamically adjust its motion to respond to the environment or user input. This paper introduces a...

Junction-aware shape descriptor for 3D articulated models using local shape-radius variation

An articulated model is composed of a set of rigid parts connected by some flexible junctions. The junction, as a critical local feature, provides valuable information for many 3D semantic analysis applications such as feature recognition, semantic segmentation, shape matching, motion tracking and functional prediction. However, efficient description and detection of junctions still remain a re...

However, efficient description and detection of junctions still remain a research challenge due to high complexity of a...
